Alleged Newtown Square 'Beer Bandit' Arrested, Felonies Filed

Earl Zingani Jr., of Glenolden, is facing felony charges after allegedly driving into a store and stealing two cans of beer on March 20.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Newtown Township said the man caught on camera breaking into a beer store and stealing two cans of beer has been arrested.

Police said Earl F. Zinagni Jr., 54, of Glenolden, who was seen on camera ramming a vehicle in reverse into a store then taking just two cans of beer on March 20, was arrested Friday morning.

He has been charged with felony burglary, felony criminal trespassing, felony criminal mischief, and theft by unlawful taking, court records show.

Police in Glenolden and Ridley townships assisted Newtown police with the investigating into the peculiar incident.

In the video issued by police, a vehicle is seen backing into the store's door at about 4:08 p.m. Wednesday, March 20.

After the doors were knocked in, a man, allegedly Zingani, gets out of the vehicle and steals two cans of beer.

Zinagni was remanded to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility after failing to post 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

He is slated for a preliminary hearing on April 18.

Police said Zingani committed a similar crime in 2010 in Bucks County where he drove into a store and stole items.
