CHESTER, PA — The Chester parents accused of killing their 1-year-old son were both denied bail.
In November, police were called to a Chester home where a small child suffered cardiac arrest with possible head trauma, authorities said. The victim was brought to the hospital and pronounced dead.
After further investigation, parents Cynthia Robinson and Frank Walton Sr. were charged Wednesday with murder.
Robinson is accused of fatally beating her son, Frank Walton Jr. Investigators say she and Frank Walton Sr. waited over seven hours before calling 911.
Walton was denied bail on Wednesday, and Robinson was denied bail Monday at her first court appearance.
They're both jailed at Delaware County Prison.
Robinson initially claimed that Frank Jr. developed deadly injuries after his sibling pushed him down the stairs of their home, according to an affidavit of probable cause. But an autopsy showed that the victim's injuries were too severe for a small child to cause, authorities said.
At the hospital, Frank Jr.'s body temperature registered at 86.2 degrees — so low that he may have died well-beforehand. If Frank Jr. received immediate medical attention after the beating, he could have survived, according to the medical examiner.
Robinson and Walton are set to return to court April 28 for preliminary hearings.
