Illegal Firework Launched At Spectators During Fireworks Show In Delco: Police

Police are trying to identify the suspect(s) behind the incident at a township's Fourth of July celebration.

UPPER CHICHESTER, PA — An investigation is underway after an unsanctioned firework endangered spectators Sunday night at a Delaware County fireworks show, police said.

The incident happened during Upper Chichester Township's Independence Day celebration at the Municipal Complex field on Furey Road.

At around 8:50 p.m., an aerial-type firework was launched or thrown from the pond side of the field into an area where spectators were gathered, police said. There was no mention of injuries.

Police are seeking the individual(s) responsible.
