MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — An intoxicated Texas man struck a State Police vehicle Wednesday night on Interstate 476 in Marple Township, authorities said.
The marked police car had its emergency lights flashing in a construction zone while parked on the right shoulder of I-476 North when it was rear-ended at around 11:35 p.m., according to State Police.
A trooper inside the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The striking driver was trying to get onto Exit 5 during the crash. He was arrested for driving under the influence after showing signs of impairment and failing sobriety tests, police said.
During the arrest, police say they found a THC vaping device. The driver will be charged accordingly.
State Police identified the driver as a Houston resident but didn't immediately share his name.
