Large Police Presence At Marple Twp. House Likely Caused By Swatting: Officials

BROOMALL, PA — A large number of police were deployed to a Broomall household in what appears to be a swatting incident overnight Monday, authorities said.

Police were called to a home on the 100 block of South New Ardmore Avenue. The initial dispatch required a large response from Marple Township Police and surrounding agencies, according to the Marple Township Police Department.

But police found no threat to the community and began clearing the scene early Monday.

Police say this appears to have been a swatting incident — the illegal act of reporting a hoax emergency to bring a large law-enforcement presence, including SWAT teams, to a targeted location.

The investigation is ongoing.
