Area Dancers Learn Ins and Outs of Broadway from 'Wicked' Performer

From the Top Studio of Dance in Newtown Sq welcomed Napoleon Gladney from Broadway's National 'Wicked' Tour!

Dancers at From the Top Studio of Dance in Newtown Square got a very special behind the scenes look at the popular musical from someone who knows it very well.

Cast member and Dance Captain, Napoleon Gladney, spent his evening off from performing on the stage to teach a "Wicked Musical Theatre Class" to dancers ages 8 through 18. After a brief warm up, Napoleon taught choreography from 2 of the shows most popular numbers.

The class wrapped up with everyone gathering in a circle and asking Gladney questions about his path to the Broadway Stage and what they need to do now, so they can do what he does in the future. The discussion ranged from how to properly fuel your body through nutrition and rest, to making sure you balance your career by learning and participating in not just the performance aspect. Gladney is passionate about using his breaks between shows to work with sales and marketing, dancer relations, and writing.

Studio owner, Sheila Turner is passionate as well about developing well-rounded dancers who are healthy and confident. "No matter what path they choose in the future, bringing someone like Napoleon to our studio, gives our dancers the ability to see how hard work, perseverance and a positive attitude has its rewards", Turner said.

From the Top will be adding more Broadway Musical Workshops to their fall and spring calendar! Stay tuned...
