Attempted Murder Charges Filed In Delco Shooting

CLIFTON HEIGHTS, PA — Authorities in Delaware County have filed attempted murder and related charges against a Philadelphia man accused of shooting at two people.

Clifton Heights Police said they took Alonzo Whitaker, 30, of Philadelphia, into custody Wednesday.

Whitaker is accused of firing a gun at two people in a vehicle at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and Penn Street at about 7:10 a.m. on June 22 in Clifton Heights.

Police said the victims made a left onto Baltimore from Penn Street when Whitaker, who was riding a bike, shot one round at them.

When police arrested Whitaker, they found a loaded semi-automatic pistol was in his vehicle.

Whitaker held after failing to post $500,000 cash bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 12.
