Body Found At Missing Delco Business Owner's Shop: Police

Marple Township Police said a body was found at the business owned by George Hughes, who has been missing for more than a week.

BROOMALL, PA — A body was found at the shop owned by a missing Delaware County businessman, according to Marple Township Police.

Police said a deceased body was found at Broomall Auto Body Wednesday morning.

The auto repair business is owned by George Hughes, 57, who has been missing since Monday, May 16.

While the decedent has not been confirmed as Hughes, police said the clothing on the body matched that of what Hughes was described as wearing.

An autopsy will be performed on the body to confirm the decedent's identity, as well as cause of death.

Hughes was last seen outside the Fine Wine & Good Spirits store in the Edgemont Square Shopping Center in Newtown Square between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, according to Private Missing Person Investigator Kevin Ryan.

Ryan said it's unclear if Hughes left the area on foot or in a vehicle, and is awaiting security footage of the area as he prepares to move forward with the case.

His vehicle was left at work, according to Ryan.
