Endorsed Republican Candidate for Township Auditor - Sherry Smyth
Endorsed Republican Candidate for Township Auditor - Sherry Smyth

Shortly after I moved to Newtown Square I saw an article in the paper that Newtown Township was looking for a volunteer to fill a vacancy for Auditor. I did not know exactly what that meant but I was so impressed with the Township personnel I had met in the short time that I had lived here; I was thrilled to become more involved. I was lucky to be appointed to the vacancy and quickly learned not only the requirements and responsibilities of the position but also what a difference good government can make. Following my appointment to the vacancy I was elected to a full term. I served as Auditor from the late 1980’s until I was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 1993. I served as Chairman the sixth and final year of my term. A few years after my service as Supervisor, I was fortunate, once again, to be elected as Auditor, which office I currently hold.
I believe that I am the most qualified candidate because I have over fifteen years experience in the position. I hold a Pennsylvania license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1979 and have over 30 years experience in various financial positions in government, industry and not-for profit organizations. Also, I have served as a volunteer on boards of several entities; on finance committees and sometimes as treasurer.

I continue to be impressed with the many tireless volunteers who work so hard to make Newtown Township a wonderful place to live. I would like to be able to work with those wonderful people and contribute what I can to making this community even a better place in the future. I do feel that I have excellent qualifications to fulfill the responsibilities of an elected Auditor for Newtown Township and I would be honored to serve another term if elected.
