Broomall Man Kicks Officers While Being Detained For Theft: Police

A 19-year-old Broomall man was charged with assault and more after police said he resisted while being detained for suspected theft.

BROOMALL, PA — A Broomall man attacked police officers who were trying to take him into custody for suspected theft.

Springfield Township Police said the incident occurred at about 10:18 p.m. Sunday at Wawa on the 100 block of Saxer Avenue in Springfield.

Police were called to the store for a report of a man stealing food from the store.

Officers found the man, later identified as Aiden McGinn, 18, of Broomall, intoxicated on Ballymore Road, police said.

When police tried to take him into custody, McGinn resisted and kicked officers, police said.

According to police, McGinn was charged with retail theft, assault, and related crimes as a result.
