Broomall Man's Identity Used To Buy $13K Of Lawn Equipment: Cops

Marple Township Police said the Miami, Florida man used the Broomall man's name to buy $13,000 worth of John Deere equipment recently.

BROOMALL, PA – A Miami, Florida man is behind bars in Delaware County after allegedly buying $13,000 worth of lawn equipment using a Broomall man's identity and credit, according to Marple Township Police.

Nelson Negrin, 45, of Miami, Florida, was arrested at about 8:44 p.m. on Feb. 16 after buying $13,000 worth of lawn equipment at Berwyn Lawmower in Berwyn on Feb. 14.

Negrin has been charged with 13 counts of identity theft, two counts of forgery, two counts of access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, and related charges. All charges filed against Negrin are felonies, court records show.

Berwyn Lawmower staff said Negrin came in and provided the false identity and credit information while inquiring about a piece of equipment. Staff ran a check on the information which resulted in some red flags popping up.Police and staff were then able to get in touch with the person whose credit and identity Negrin was allegedly using.

When Negrin came back to the business at a later date, an officer was undercover as a mechanic and later arrested without incident in the store.

Negrin also allegedly purchased $50,000 worth of items in Orlando, Florida using stolen formation the previous week, police said.

Police say Negrin was part of a larger ring that is making and using fake IDs, as well as stealing credit card information obtained through card skimming devices.

Negrin remains jailed on $100,000 bail and will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 5, court records show.
