Car Crashes In Pit Around Water Tank In Marple

The Broomall Fire Company was called to an Aqua water storage tank in Marple Monday morning after a car crashed into a ditch surrounding it.

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — A car careened into a ditch surrounding a water storage tank in Marple Township Monday morning.

According to the Broomall Fire Company, the crash occurred at Old Marple & Sproul Roads.

Crews showed up and found a vehicle sitting below grade in the retention pit adjacent to the Aqua water storage tank.

According to K&S Towing and Recovery, which responded to the scene, the driver lost control and struck the 3 million water tank owned.

The vehicle came to rest at the base of the tank, 20 feet below street grade.

The occupants were entrapped in the vehicle, but were extricated and taken to a trauma center, the fire company said.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
