Darby Creek Valley Association Honors Civic-Minded Delco Man

Eastwick's Earl Wilson was presented with the Darby Creek Valley Association's Ribbon Of Green" Award for his dedication to the community.

For more than 40 years, Earl Wilson has been a passionate, committed supporter of Eastwick and surrounding communities, giving his boundless energy to worthy organizations of many kinds.

To honor his lifetime of dedicated community service, Darby Creek Valley Association recently presented Wilson its "Ribbon Of Green" Award.

"I was surprised and elated to receive the Ribbon of Green Award from the board I have worked with for many years," Wilson said. "It was an award for all of us at DCVA."

"DCVA and the Eastwick Friends and Neighbors' Coalition, Inc. (EFNC) have worked in partnership for many years to deal with specific environmental problems of Eastwick, Southwest Philadelphia and the Delaware County watershed area," he said.

Wilson serves on the Board of both organizations.

A retired Philadelphia public school science teacher and unstoppable "people person" whose love of education and service is stronger than ever, Wilson has also worked with Eastwick Action Committee and Eastwick Lower Darby Creek Area Community Advisory Group, which gave him its Leadership Award.

He also received the Bread And Roses Award for his work as a community activist.

DCVA’s Ribbon of Green Award is the latest thank-you to Wilson from his community.
