Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had been transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center. Officers immediately responded to the hospital.

The victim, later identified as Yahmire Curry, succumbed to his gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead by a trauma doctor. While in the hospital lobby, Chester Police officers were approached by Lamar Gordy who, while holding his hands in the air, stated, “I just shot someone and the gun is on me," according to the DA's office.

Police secured a 9 mm Taurus handgun, loaded with one bullet in the chamber and four rounds of ammunition in the magazine, from Lamar Gordy’s pants pocket, the DA's office said.

An investigation was immediately launched by Chester City Police Detective David DeFrank and CID Detective Daniel McFarland.

When interviewed by detectives, Lamar Gordy claimed a friend asked for his assistance in retrieving their belongings from a house on the 700 block of Pennell Street. Lamar Gordy stated that he picked the friend up and while on the way to Pennell Street, they saw Lamar Gordy’s brother, Christopher Gordy, driving in the vicinity. Lamar Gordy claimed that he and his brother Christopher, both proceeded to the 700 block of Pennell Street and that his friend went inside a residence to recover their belongings.

While waiting outside, Lamar Gordy claimed he was approached by Curry, who purportedly shot at him, and in response, Lamar Gordy shot Curry.

Lamar Gordy then claimed that four other men ran into the area and began firing their weapons causing Lamar to flee the area. Lamar Gordy claimed that his brother Christopher Gordy was inside a house across the street when this all transpired, according to the DA's office.

Investigation revealed that Lamar Gordy’s story was inconsistent with the crime scene and was also inconsistent with witness interviews, the DA's office said.

CID Crime Scene Detectives processed the crime scene and recovered 16 fired cartridge casings, that were analyzed by CID Firearms Examiner, Detective Louis Grandizio, who determined they had been fired from the firearm recovered from Lamar Gordy, according to the DA's office.

Detectives also recovered a firearm at the scene and an additional four fired cartridge casings south east of the area, the DA's office said.

None of these four fired cartridge casings matched the firearm recovered from the scene. Another firearm, a SIG 9mm, was later submitted to law enforcement by a local attorney and Detective Grandizio determined that the four fired cartridge casings matched the SIG 9mm, according to the DA's office.

Crime scene investigation along with witness interviews revealed that in the afternoon of Feb. 11, Lamar and Christopher Gordy arrived in the area of the of the 700 block of Pennell Street and began arguing with victim Curry, according to the DA's office.

Lamar and Christopher Curry then shot at the victim 20 times, the DA's office said.

After they shot the victim, Christopher Gordy stated, “I told young bull to stop f****** playing with me,” the DA's office alleges. The brothers then left the area.
