
JENKINTOWN– won two games last year, and the Knights have already halved that many this year, after a 28-21 overtime victory over Jenkintown High School Monday afternoon in the season opener for the Knights.
Delco Christian running back Zach Moore rushed for over 150 yards in the victory, and then topped it off with the game-winning score in overtime.
“Offensively, we weren’t clicking as much as we would have liked. The team really pulled together after we didn’t seem to have much going,” said senior Mike Monaghan, a starting linebacker and fullback.

“I think it helps us out a lot. We didn’t play our best and we still pulled out the victory. We kept is positive,” said Monaghan.
The Knights were up 14-6 at halftime, then battled back from a 21-14 deficit to tie the score at 21-21 with roughly six minutes left. Moore scored on the first play of overtime (PIAA high school rules allow each team a possession at the 10-yard line in overtime, and the teams play until a winner is determined).

Then the Knights held Jenkintown when Tyler Winkis recovered a fumble on the third down.
Delco Christian hosts the Bicentennial League champion Calvary Christian on Saturday at 7 p.m. at . A tough competitor ahead, Calvary Christian blew out the Knights last year.
“We aren’t the same the same team were last year,” Monaghan assured.
