Delco Community College Security Guard Cut In Struggle Over Knife

Marple Township Police said the guard suffered cuts when struggling with a student over a knife. That student was taken into police custody.

MARPLE, PA — Marple Township Police are investigating an incident at Delaware County Community College in which a female student and security guard struggled over a knife.

According to police, officers responded to the college Wednesday at about 3:37 p.m. after the school's security was called to a classroom.

Police said the security officers tried to calm student in the classroom and noticed a knife on a table.

A security officer and a female student both tried to grab the knife and a struggle ensued, police said.

The officer suffered several cuts to their hands and was able to get the knife from the student.

Police said the officer's injuries were treated at a hospital and that the student was unharmed.

When Marple Police arrived, they took the student into custody.
