Delco Coronavirus Hospitalizations Rise, Other Metrics Decrease
Hospitalizations and ventilator use in Delaware County have increased in the past week, but four other key metrics are trending downward.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The coronavirus vaccine has arrived in Delaware County, but how is the county faring regarding the six key metrics measured by the state?
According to the state, four of the six metrics have seen downward trends over the past week, while two have increased.
The state's coronavirus early warning monitoring system dashboard shows hospitalizations from the coronavirus and ventilator use have increased in the past seven days.

Average hospitalizations, according to the data, have gone up from 154.7 to 165.7.

Additionally, the average ventilator use among hospitalized coronavirus patients has increased from 19.6 to 21.
While those metrics increased, new cases, the incidence rate, the positivity rate, and the number of people showing up at hospitals with coronavirus-like illnesses have dropped.

Newly reported cases went down from 2,101 to 1,762.
The incidence rate per 100,000 people dropped from 372 to 312.

The county's positivity rate went down from 13.1 to 11.6 percent.
And people presenting at hospitals with coronavirus-like illnesses decreased slightly from 1.7 percent to 1.1 percent.
