Delco Council to Meet in Newtown Wednesday

By James Boyle The council chose Newtown for its October evening meeting to highlight the township's inviting neighborhoods.

Delaware County Council will head to Newtown Township for a public meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the township building, 209 Bishop Hollow Road, Newtown Square, according to a press release from the county.

Chairman Tom McGarrigle announced that Council will meet in Newtown as part of ongoing efforts to enhance communication with residents by taking their meetings out into the community.

“It is our hope that these evening meetings will encourage the residents of Newtown and surrounding communities to become more involved with local government and in turn, help us to communicate more directly with our residents,” said McGarrigle. “Newtown is a wonderful example of a Delaware County community where you have mom-and-pop businesses as well as cutting-edge international corporations. It’s also clear that they know how to play baseball in Newtown, which is home to not one, but two championship Babe Ruth teams.”
