Delco Veterans Memorial Hosting Flag Day Ceremony Next Week
Additionally, the day will also feature 2022 Freedom Medal Honorees.
NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — Next week, a Flag Day Ceremony will be held at the Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square.
The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association will host the ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14.
The event will begin with the National Anthem followed by a performance of “You’re a Grand Ole Flag” sung by the Kindergarten class of Garret Williamson.

Jon Schaffer from Flight Entertainment will present the Memorial with a check from the proceeds raised over the winter months at the Delaware County Veteran’s Memorial Rink in Edgemont Township.
Following the check presentation, the 2022 Freedom Medal Honorees will be announced.

Honorees are General John Paxton, Jr., US Marine Corps; Brig. General Daniel Van Wyk, US Air Force/Air National Guard; Joseph Curley, US Coast Guard; Carl Ewing, US Army; Denise Leslie, US Navy; Benjamin Sides, US Marine Corps; James L. Smith, US Marine Corps; J.A.C.E Juneteenth Artistic Collaborative Experience of Delaware County; Joe Crandall, US Navy owner/CEO of Greencastle Consulting.
All Honorees are local veterans and will be on-site to be celebrated.
They are recognized for their dedication to our country, to educating our youth, and to improving our community.
A Flag Retirement Ceremony presented by Comcast will follow at 11 am.
This event is free and open to the public.
The Delaware County Veterans Memorial is located at 4599 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.
