Did you win the lottery? An app from the Pennsylvania Lottery can help you find out.

The Pennsylvania Lottery’s official mobile app now lets players scan instant game tickets to see if they’ve won.

“By adding this new instant ticket checker feature on our app, we’ve taken another big step in creating convenience for players,” said Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “Since we first introduced the smartphone app in 2014, our players have been asking for the ability to quickly scan their instant tickets to learn if they have won a prize.”

To use the app, just reveal the “Scratch to Cash” barcode on the instant ticket, then point your smart phone camera at the barcode. The app will then tell you if you’ve won.

“Players must physically present a ticket for prize validation by having it scanned at a Lottery retailer’s sales terminal or by submitting the signed ticket with a completed claim form to a Lottery office,” lottery officials said in a statement announcing the updated app, which is free through Google Play and the Apple App Store.

“The Pennsylvania Lottery is working hard to stay connected with today’s on-the-go, tech-savvy players and add excitement to the play experience,” Svitko added.

The mobile app’s ticket checker feature currently works only for instant games. Tickets for draw games must be checked by lottery retailers.
