DARBY, PA – A Delaware County woman is facing a neglect of animals charge after her dog was found to have two untreated broken legs.
According to the Pennsylvania SPCA, Tina Ray, 43, of Darby, was charged with a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty after SPCA officers found her young adult Siberian Husky had two untreated broken legs.
The cruelty charge includes lack of necessary veterinary care putting the dog at risk of severe bodily injury including the possibility of losing limbs.

On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Pennsylvania SPCA’S Humane Law Enforcement, acting on a tip from a Good Samaritan, executed a search warrant at Ray’s property in Darby. Upon arrival, the officers found a young female Husky unable to walk.
The dog, also named Tina, was seized by the SPCA and taken to the organization’s Shelter Hospital after Ray refused to sign her over.

Since her rescue, Tina has undergone multiple surgeries and had round-the-clock care in the hopes that she will make a recovery and go on to live a safe and happy life.
"In this case, it was clear that the dog in question not only had a substantial injury to two of her limbs, but was also in a great deal of pain for a long period of time," said Nicole Wilson, Director of the PSPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement team. "The offender recognized that the dog needed help, but ultimately refused that help, leaving her dog to suffer, which is not only unacceptable, but illegal."
So far Tina’s medical care has cost the Pennsylvania SPCA nearly $10,000.
The Pennsylvania SPCA is asking the public to donate to Tina’s care, as well as the thousands of animals like her who are rescued by the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement team every year.
