Firefighter Crashes Into Cop Car Responding To Broomall Incident

Police said while responding to an incident Thursday on West Chester Pike, a firefighter suffered a medical emergency, causing the crash.

BROOMALL, PA — A firefighter was hurt after crashing into a police vehicle Thursday while responding to a pole fire incident in Broomall, according to Marple Township Police.

Police said it all stemmed from a utility pole fire on West Chester Pike near Interstate 476 Thursday.

Police were called to the area for reports of a utility pole on fire, causing power outages.

Police started redirecting traffic around the area and requested support from the Broomall Fire Company.

But while en route to the scene, one firefighter suffered a medical emergency in a vehicle and crashed into a police vehicle.

Police said the firefighter, who is a volunteer, was taken to a hospital for treatment and the officer suffered minor injuries.

Traffic reopened on the road at about 8:20 a.m. Friday, police said.

Drivers are urged to use caution in the area as crews continue working.
