Flooded State Roads Open Again In Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — PennDOT Friday said the five state roads closed by flooding have reopened.

According to PennDOT, U.S. 1/Baltimore Pike, MacDade Boulevard, Dutton Mill Road, Gradyville Road, and Cheyney Road have all reopened after floodwaters receded.

Despite these roads in Delaware County reopening, more than 30 roads in Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia counties are closed as of Friday afternoon.

These highways will remain closed until it is safe to reopen to traffic.

Drivers should watch for ponding on roadways and flooding in poor drainage areas while traveling.

PennDOT warns motorists not to drive across roads covered with water because even shallow, swiftly flowing water can wash a car from a roadway. Also, the roadbed may not be intact under the water. Never drive around barricades or signs on closed roads.
