Free Vaccine, Backpack Giveaway Event Planned In Delaware County

YEADON, PA — Delaware County officials are looking to help area students get ready for the school year with a free vaccine and backpack giveaway event this weekend.

Delaware County Council and Health Partners Plans are hosting the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Delaware County Wellness Center, 125 Chester Ave. in Yeadon.

Students are invited to get haircuts from a local barber, a backpack and school supplies, and for those 12 years of age and older, the COVID-19 vaccine will be available.

The free community event will also feature a DJ, face painting, and healthy snacks.

Additionally, Health Partners Plans will present Delaware County with a $50,000 check as a contribution to the future Delaware County Health Department.

Delaware County Council Vice Chair Dr. Monica Taylor will also present an update at 11:30 a.m. on the progress of the future Delaware County Health Department, scheduled to launch in January 20222.
