Fuel Spill Near Wildlife Refuge In Delco Contained: Officials
The spill came from an oversized vehicle that was parked in the area, officials said.
DARBY TOWNSHIP, PA — A fuel spill near a wildlife refuge that happened Wednesday morning has been contained, according to Darby Township officials.
A possible diesel spill was reported around 7:40 a.m. at Clifton and Forrester avenues, according to a township advisory. It was leaking from the fuel tank of an oversized vehicle that was parked in the area.
The spill has been contained, the township announced Wednesday afternoon. The township's emergency management coordinator called in a private environmental firm for further cleanup and mitigation.

The Public Works Department initially reported the spill to the emergency management coordinator. Upon inspection, multiple agencies were called in to help, including Darby Township Police, Darby Township Fire Station #76, Delaware County HazMat, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and representatives from Heinz Wildlife Refuge.
The intersection of the reported spill has housing and a large industrial lot in the immediate area. The lot is adjacent to Darby Creek and the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Titicum.
