Gen. S.D. Butler Detachment Makes A Flag History Presentation To A Local Rotary Club

The history of the American Flag was presented to the Rotarians

On August 27 , the Detachment’s Americanism Team of Marines Jim Mulhern, Earle Drake, and Ceremonial Bugler Dan Fitzpatrick gave its renowned Flag History Presentation to members of the Paoli-Malvern- Berwyn Rotary Club at Aronimink Golf Club. Members were treated to how the flag evolved from its earliest days starting with Britain’s St. Georges Cross flag that explorer John Cabot planted in Labrador on behalf of King Henry VII, to our current flag, “Old Glory”. The history of the Pledge of Allegiance was also part of the program.

The Detachment regularly makes Americanism and Flag History presentations to local fraternal and service organizations and in the elementary schools of Delaware County.
