NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — In case you missed it, the long-awaited Newtown Square Whole Foods Market is opening in Friday, Jan. 18. And you won't want to miss the grand opening, as you can get some sweet freebies and giveaways in addition to all the grocer's offerings.
Whole Foods officials said the new store, located at 3737 West Chester Pike, will open at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan 18 and the first 200 customers through the doors will get a Whole Foods Market gift card with a mystery value ranging between $5 and $100, as well as a Newtown Square tote bag.
Before doors open, guests can get complimentary breakfast pastries and coffee from local supplier One Village while Marple Newtown High School Pep Band performs at 8 a.m.

The new store is 51,000 square feet and will have fresh produce, a full-service butcher, an in-house bakery, a pub, specialty foods, seafood, beers and wines, hot and cold food bars, and all the other offerings expected at the popular grocer.
Regular hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

To celebrate joining the community, 5 percent of the store's net sales on Thursday, Jan. 24 will go to Marple Newtown School District's Black and Orange Fund, which gives back to the school community through several avenues, including support to student programs, booster clubs and organizations, and scholarships.
The store will also feature a pub called the Darby Creek Cafe, which will offer 12 local beers on tap, a curated selection of wine and sherry-based cocktails, as well as a pub-inspired food menu. The cafe is Open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
About 160 full and part-time workers will be employed at the new store, as well.
The Newtown Square Whole Foods Market is one of 14 stores in the greater Philadelphia area.
