Newtown Has 1 Of The Nation's Best Golf Courses, Per New Ratings

The township has one of the best 'classic' courses in the U.S., according to Golfweek's annual rankings.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — Newtown Township has one of the best places to play the links in the nation, according to a new list.

Aronimink Golf Club, which hosted this year's PGA Championship, ranked 66th on Golfweek's rankings of the top 200 "classic" golf courses in the U.S.

Golfweek — part of USA Today — defines classic courses as layouts that opened before 1960, when course architects interfered less with natural landscapes, according to the publication. Courses that opened afterwards are considered "modern."
