Gun Seized After Police Chase In Marple Township: Authorities

A 21-year-old Philadelphia man was taken into custody after police said he led them on a chase on June 4 in Marple Township.

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Marple Township seize a gun after being led on a chase last week in Broomall.

According to police and court records, Khyree Hyneif Pratt, 21, of Philadelphia, has been charged with firearm crimes, fleeing or attempting to eluding police, drug possession, and other crimes.

The charges stem from a June 4 incident in Broomall.

At about 8:22 p.m., a Marple officer tried to stop a Dodge Charger near West Chester Pike and Malin Road.

As the officer got out of his patrol vehicle, the Charger sped off toward Newtown Township.

The officer chased the vehicle, which ultimately crashed in the area of Newtown Street and St. Davids roads.

Police said the driver, later identified as Pratt, ran off.

Authorities established a perimeter and found Pratt after a search.

Police found a Glock 17, 9 mm firearm with an extended magazine, according to authorities.

Pratt was jailed on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 16.
