Here's How Delco Is Doing On 6 Key Coronavirus Metrics

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Four of the six metrics tracked by the Pennsylvania Department of Health on the county level showed a slight increase in Delaware County over a seven-day period.

The metrics are part of the state's Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard, which paints a comprehensive picture of the impact and status of the virus in the community and the healthcare system at large. The most recently published data covers the time period from Aug. 28 to Sept. 3.

The county reported 315 cases this week, 44 more than the 271 the week previous, and more than the 278 reported the week previous to that.

The incidence rate of the virus per 100,000 residents is now at 55.8 for the seven-day period, up from 49.2 last week and 68.7 the week before.

Average daily hospitalizations per week have increased over that time frame, up to 15.9 from 14.3.

The average number of patients on ventilators has also trickled downward in the past three weeks, from 3, to 2.6, and finally to 1.7 in the most recent data.

The percent positivity rating on all coronavirus tests in Delaware County is now 4 percent, up from 3.2 percent last week and 3.0 the week before. Five percent is the threshold which health officials consider to be "concerning."

Lastly, the average number of emergency room visits per week due to coronavirus dropped slightly from 0.8 percent to 0.6 percent, the Dashboard shows.

As of Sept. 4, Delaware County has seen 10,727 cases and 778 deaths since the pandemic began.
