So how safe are Marple and Newtown townships?

According to the website ElitePersonalFinance, they are two of the 100 safest places in the state.

The website looked at FBI crime statistics to create the list of the 100 safest places in Pennsylvania.

They gave each place examined a crime score, which was calculated by dividing the total number of violent crimes by the town population, then multiplying that by 1,000.

Marple Township's crime score was 0.17, putting it at No. 25 on the list of Pennsylvania's 100 safest towns.

Newtown Township earned a score of 0,37, giving it a rank of No. 76.

According to ElitePersonalFinance, FBI data shows four violent crimes occurred in Marple last year and five occurred in Newtown last year.

Nearby, Lower Merion Township was ranked No. 11, Radnor Township No. 20, and Haverford Township No. 97.
