Key Coronavirus Metrics See Positive Trends In Delco
The state's Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard tracks six different vital metrics to track the course of coronavirus by county.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Six different metrics tracked by the Pennsylvania Department of Health on the county level showed a decrease in Delaware County over the past week.
The metrics, pulled together in the state's Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard, paint a comprehensive picture of the impact and status of the virus in the community and the healthcare system at large.
The county's percent positivity rate on all tests dropped to 3.5 percent from 4.3 percent. That number remains well below the threshold for what's considered "concerning" at five percent.

The overall number of cases also decreased slightly in the county over the last seven days, from 388 to 278.
Another metric which saw a decrease was the incidence rate per 100,000 residents: it sits at 49.2 this week, after hitting 68.7 last week.

In addition, two hospital-related metrics dropped slightly: the average daily number of patients placed on ventilators in the county dipped from 3 to 2.6, and the percent of emergency room visits related to coronavirus decreased from 1.5 percent to 0.8 percent.
The overall number of hospitalizations also decreased this week to 22.1 after last week's 14.3.
Delaware County's numbers continue to stack up well against the region and the rest of the state. The statewide percent positivity rating sits at 3.2 percent, as of Tuesday morning.
Delaware County has seen a total of 10,472 cases and 773 deaths from coronavirus since the pandemic began.
