$50K Stolen From Delco Home Depot Stores: Police
Marple Police said a Connecticut man stole $50,000 from Delco Home Depot stores as part of a northeast theft operation from the store chain.

BROOMALL, PA — Police in Marple Township said a Connecticut man stole about $50,000 from Home Depot stores in Delaware County and have issued a warrant for his arrest.
According to police, Alexandre Costa-Mota, 25, of West Hartford, Connecticut, is wanted on 11 counts of felony theft by deception and 11 counts of felony receiving stolen property.
The charges were filed after Marple Police Sgt. Nicholas Coffin met with a corporate investigator for Home Depot.

The investigator told police he was investigating a loss to the Home Depot Corporation that could be more than $300,000 and spans from Connecticut to Maryland.
In Delaware County specifically, including the Broomall store, about $50,000 has been stolen from Home Depot, police said.

Police eventually identified Costa-Mota as a suspect involved in the thefts.
In his thefts, police said Costa-Mota returned items to the store without receipts and be given Home Depot store credit cards for the returns.
To conduct a non-receipted return with Home Depot, Costa-Mota was required to provide some form of identification, but police said he would give a different ID card with a different name during each non-receipted return.
Patch reported Costa-Mota was accused of issuing bad checks by South Windsor, Connecticut police in December 2020.
