Richard Turek and Angelina Arlotta are accused of faking Turek's kidnapping to extort money from his estranged family member, police said.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Pennsylvania State Police said two people were taken into custody after faking a kidnapping to extort a local woman out of money.

The victim came to Pennsylvania State Police on Dec. 5 to report receiving threatening text messages from unknown numbers.

Police said the messages claimed her estranged family member, Richard Turek, 42, of Media, was kidnapped.

The messages were demanding $6,000 from the victim, otherwise more members of their family would be kidnapped and harmed, police said.
