Man Jumped In Creek Bed While Fleeing Authorities: Marple Police

Police charged a Broomall man with resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia possession, and more crimes following an incident on Lawrence Road.

BROOMALL, PA — Marple Police arrested and charged a man after he ran from them and jumped into a creek to escape, authorities said.

According to police said they arrested Gilberto Giraud, 41, of Philadelphia at 7:20 p.m. Monday on Lawrence Road.

Giraud has been charged with resisting arrest, false identification to police, drug possession, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

According to police, officers were called to the area for a report of an intoxicated man and found Giraud.

Giraud, police said, gave them a false name then ran away from police.

He ran to the back of a nearby apartment complex then jumped into a creek bed, police said.

According to police, Giraud got into the creek but was arrested while in the creek.

Police found a needle used for injecting drugs on Giraud and said he had multiple outstanding arrest warrants from Philadelphia and Delaware Counties.

Giraud was held on $25,000 bail and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 14.
