Gen. Smedley D. Butler Marine Corps League Detachment Was At The Newtown Square Christmas Tree Lighting With A Toys For Tots Box

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was held at St. Albans Circle, Newtown Square, on Sunday evening, December 7. The program is sponsored by the Newtown Square Business and Professional Association. A local girls dance groups from the area performed and competed for prizes supplied by the NSB&PA. The Marine Corps League was there to accept many new unwrapped toys for the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots pragram. As the Christmas Tree was lighted for the season, Santa came in a sleigh decorated with colorful lights and was encircled by scores of little children. In the photo on the left is Paul Ferguson, Commandant of the Gen. S.D. Butler MCL Detachment headquartered in Newtown Square; on the right is Dick Pound, President of the Newtown Square Business & Professional Association.
