Marines Join Newtown Square Business and Professional Association to Gather Toys for Children

Gen. S.D. Butler Detachment, Marine Corps League Collects for Toys for Tots at the Newtown Square Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Santa Claus arrived in Newtown Square on a “hook and ladder” fire truck on Sunday evening, December 6, at 8:00pm. Prior to Santa’s arrival Dick Pound, President of the Newtown Square Business and Professional Association, served as the Master of Ceremonies, introducing the dance groups that performed for the crowd. Members of the Gen. Smedley D. Butler Marine Corps League Detachment represented the Toys for Tots program. Although the crowd was smaller than in years past, they were extremely generous in their donations of toys for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. This was the best year of toy giving in the history of this event. Most attending thought the crowd was smaller because of the Eagles-Patriots game.
