Marple Crime Blotter: Thefts, Vandalism, Drugs, More

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Marple Township last week issued their crime blotter.

The blotter contains incidents that occurred between Feb. 7 and Feb. 10.

Feb. 7

• A resident reported that she received a letter in the mail from Lowes about her application for a credit card. The resident never applied for credit with Lowes. The victim contacted Lowes, and they were able to halt the application process before approval. Detective Kurt Lindelow investigated the incident.

Feb. 8

• Police took a report of a stolen purse from the Walmart Store at 400 South State Road. A shopper reported that, at approximately 11:30 a.m., someone must have grabbed her purse from the shopping cart as she was unloading her bags.
• Police took a vandalism report at the Country Squire Diner. An employee parked her silver Toyota Camry in a parking lot adjacent to the Diner and, upon return to her vehicle, noticed both her side-view mirrors were broken.
• Police took a second vandalism report at the Country Squire Diner. Another employee parked her Chevy Equinox in the rear of the Diner around noon. When she returned to her vehicle, she observed her passenger side mirror had been broken.

Feb. 9

• Walmart, 400 South State Road, detained a 28-year-old adult male from Havertown after they observed the male under ringing items in the self-checkout line. The actor failed to pay for $112.94 in Walmart merchandise, was issued a citation and released. Officer Brian Niedelman investigated the incident.

Feb. 10

• Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Governor Sproul apartments for a report of three to four persons occupying a vehicle and possibly smoking marijuana. There was an odor of marijuana within the car, and after removing the four passengers from the vehicle, officers found marijuana and other paraphernalia inside. Officer Pat Sexton and Officer Joe Varacalli investigated the incident, and charges are pending.
• Police responded to Carter's, 400 South State Road, for a report of a retail theft in progress. A Carter's employee reported to police that an adult female filled Marshall's bags with an unknown amount of Carter's merchandise. The suspect then left the store without paying for the stolen merchandise and ran through the parking lot where employees lost sight of her. Sergeant Chris Chermak investigated the incident.
