Marple Newtown Grad Dies In Saturday Crash
The Marple Newtown School District offered counseling for those struggling with the tragic news.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA – A 20-year-old Newtown Square man died after crashing a vehicle Saturday morning in Newtown Square, according to police.
Andrew Shelly, who graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 2015, died in a crash that occurred at about 6:30 a.m. at St. Davids Road and Mill View Lane Saturday, Aug. 12.
Newtown Township Police said preliminary investigations show Shelly may have fallen asleep behind the wheel, but authorities are still working to determine what happened.

Marple Newtown School District Superintendent Dr. Carol Cary released a statement on the tragic death saying counseling is available.
Dear Parents, Staff, and Community Members,
It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you of the tragic death of Andrew Shelly, Marple Newtown graduate Class of 2015, who was killed in a car accident on August 12. Andrew’s death touches so
many in our community and we want to extend our support and condolences to all who are grieving.
Counseling services are available for students and staff at our high school at 9:00 AM on Monday, August 14, 2017. We will honor Andrew with a moment of silence at the beginning of the school year at our high
school.
We cherish each one of our students and graduates and are deeply saddened by this loss. Our thoughts and prayers are offered to the Shelly family; Michael (a senior), Amanda, and Andrew’s parents, Melissa and Mike.
