“I was lucky to have a very hands-on internship in which I did everything from teacher observations and student discipline to scheduling and summer school. I firmly believe in educating the whole child -- socially, emotionally, and academically. While I think it is important to hold students to a high standard, I also think it is integral to provide any and all support they need in order to achieve those standards. I am truly student-centered both as a teacher and as an administrator. I am excited to be entering the world of administration because I know that I can have a greater impact on the lives of students as an assistant principal. My favorite part about teaching was developing a rapport with my students and making a difference in their lives, no matter how small. While I am excited to become an assistant principal, I am especially excited to become an assistant principal at Marple Newtown High School. I feel that my values and philosophies align well with those of MNSD and I am honored to become part of such a well-respected administrative team and school district. I look forward to meeting the staff, parents, and especially students at MNHS in September and I am delighted to call myself a Tiger!” said Hopkins.

Born and raised in Drexel Hill, Hopkins now lives in East Coventry (Owen J Roberts School District) with her husband and son. They are hoping to return to Delaware County within the next year.
