Men Carjacked Victim, Forced Him To Drive To Bank: Marple Police

Marple Police said Sonny Francis Michelotto and Francis Weiner carjacked a man, then made him drive to a bank to take out money Monday.

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Two Delaware County men were taken into custody Monday after Marple Police said they were involved in a robbery and carjacking.

According to police, Sonny Francis Michelotto,25, and Francis Weiner, 48, both of Darby, are both charged with robbery, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, theft, possession of an instrument of crime, and more.

According to police, officers were called to the Citizens Bank at 1991 S. Sproul Road at 4:01 p.m. Monday for a report of a robbery and carjacking.

There, they found the victim, who told officers he drove to the area of Milford Drive and Sundor Circle to pick up a friend.

While in a cul-de-sac, another vehicle boxed his vehicle in and two men, later identified as Michelotto and Weiner, approached his vehicle, police said.

Michelotto and Weiner told the victim to hand over the vehicle's keys, but the victim refused, police said.

That's when Weiner pulled out a gun and got into the vehicle's passenger seat and forced the victim to drive to a nearby back to take out money, police said.

The victim drove to the aforementioned bank and told a teller of the incident, police said.

Responding officers found Weiner and Michelotto near the bank and took them into custody.

Police found a spare key to the victim's vehicle and a black firearm in Weiner's vehicle, police said.

The two were booked at the Marple Police Station.

Weiner was released after posting $100,000 bail, and Michelotto was released after posting $50,000 bail Friday, court records show.

They are scheduled for July 21 preliminary hearings.
