New Coronavirus Cases, Hospitalizations, Testing Rate Up In Delco
The coronavirus appears to be surging in Delaware County, as recently data from the state shows increased cases, hospitalizations, and more.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The coronavirus's presence is holding strong in Delaware County, as the latest data from the state shows more cases and more hospitalizations.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Delaware County saw increased in four of the six key coronavirus metrics over the past seven days.
The only metrics to see decreases were the average number of hospitalized coronavirus patients on ventilators and the percentage of people who showed up to emergency rooms with coronavirus-like illnesses.

Data shows new confirmed cases increased from 668 to 744 in the past week.
The incidence rate per 100,000 people also went up from 117.9 to 131.3.

Delaware County's positive testing rate was 6.4 percent last week, and is 7.3 percent this week.
The average number of coronavirus-specific hospitalizations increased from 26.9 to 33.7.
Average daily ventilator use among hospitalized coronavirus patients dropped from 3.3 to 3.
The percent of people presenting coronavirus-like illnesses at Delaware County emergency rooms went down from 1.9 percent to 1.6 percent.
As of Friday, 315,773 people in Delaware County have been fully vaccinated, and 62,291 have received an additional vaccine dose as of Aug. 13.
The county has seen 56,834 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, and 1,527 coronavirus related deaths.
