Newtown Approves 2 PGA Championship Measures Ahead Of Major Tournament
Funding will support welcome banners and beautification for the 2026 PGA Championship.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — With the PGA Championship weeks away, the Newtown Board of Supervisors approved new funding Monday for banners at township entrances and beautification near Aronimink Golf Club.
The motion that passed at Monday's meeting allows township staff to spend up to $5,000 on "welcome" banners on major roadways and beautification of St. David's Road, where Aronimink is located.
Township staff plan to place the banners at both entrances into the township at West Chester Pike and two at the Route 252 entrances, said Township Manager Stephen Nease.

St. David's Road will also be spruced up with "some color and some plantings in that area," Nease said.
"Just to kind of be welcoming," he said, "just to say thank you for the PGA being here because we really are glad that they’re in town."

Emergency Shelter Approved
The board also voted in favor of designating 15 Campus Boulevard — a large office building — as a shelter for emergency evacuations during the PGA event.
It would provide a space to move people indoors if the golf course must be evacuated, Nease said.
15 Campus is also the tournament's official ride-share pickup and drop-off lot, where a shuttle will bring guests to Aronimink.
The 2026 PGA Championship runs from May 14-17, with practice rounds taking place May 11-13.
