Newtown Police Are Hiring
One to two-year work history as a police officer preferred, but not required, to be considered for the police officer position.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department is hiring new officers.
Minimum qualifications are:
- must be at least 21 years of age
- U.S. citizenship
- high school diploma or a GED certification
- valid PA driver’s license
- physical and mental fitness
Candidates must also possess a diploma from a certified Act 120 school, on date of hire.

- Running for several hundred yards.
- Climbing over obstacles.
- Crawling
- Pushing motor vehicles.
- Pulling or carrying accident, fire or crime victims.
- Using physical force to apprehend and subdue arrestees.
- Withstanding prolonged exposure, as long as 12 hours to extreme weather conditions.
- Withstanding frequent exposure to stress-producing situations such as encountering persons injured or killed by accidents, crimes and suicides.
- Dealing with domestic disputes.
- Dealing with verbal and physical abuse of the officer, including taunts, insults and threats to the officer, family members, or fellow police officers.
- Withstanding long periods of sitting and standing.
- Communicate effectively with individuals suffering from trauma.
- Operate a motor vehicle for long periods of time.
- Use various firearms effectively.
- Be able to fill out written reports in a clear and concise manner both in handwriting and with the use of a computer.
