Newtown Square Attempted Robber Busted, Charged

When the Drexel Hill man tried to rob a Rite Aid in Newtown Square, employees called police and he fled without taking any money.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA –An attempted robbery at a Newtown Square Rite Aid ended in the suspect being arrested and charged after employees got photos of the suspect's car as he fled the scene.

Frank Desan, 36, of Drexel Hill, was arrested Monday, Aug. 7 and charged with robbery with a threat of immediate serious injury and driving with a suspended or revoked license, court records show.

Desan was held after failing to post 10 percent of $20,000 bail, according to court records.

Desan is set to appear for his preliminary hearing Aug. 24, court documents show.

The charges were filed after Desan attempted to rob a Rite Aid at 3599 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square Sunday night.

According to the Delaware County Daily Times, Desan brandished a box cutter and demanded money from employees, who told Desan they called police and he then fled.

Employees took a photo of Desan's vehicle, which led to police locating the vehicle and Desan.
