Newtown Square Firm A 'Best Workplace For Women'
This employer in the area was ranked as the 21st best place for women to work in the nation, according to GreatPlaceToWork.com.
NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA β A Newtown Square-based company was recently listed as one of the best places for women to work in the nation thanks to its commitment to a diverse workforce and equality practices.
According to GreatPlaceToWork.com, SAP America Inc. in Newtown Square is the 21st best place for women to earn a living.
SAP, a software company whose U.S. headquarters is right here in Newtown Square, has a workforce of 35 percent women. The company even has a 20 percent rate for women in executive-level roles, as well as a mid-level manager make up of 29 percent women. Female frontline managers or supervisors account for 33 percent of that group of workers.

The company even set a goal for itself to boost its percentage of women in leadership roles to 25 percent by the end of 2017 on a global scale, according to GreatPlaceToWork.com.
"This award-winning, year-long program for women is unparalleled in the industry and designed to give participants the skills and behaviors to excel in management and people leadership roles," the company said.

Overall, GreatPlaceToWork.com says 93 percent of workers at SAP say the company is a great place to work.
The website calculated the ranks based on four factors that were examined after 400,000 women were surveyed. Those factors were:
- Key Great Place to Work Metrics β analyzing how positively women rated their organizations on over 50 different metrics defining great workplaces, including ethical leadership, respectful and fair workplace interactions, great benefits and development, and strong caring and personal support.
- Comparison to Colleagues β comparing women's results on all survey questions to that of their male colleagues. Specifically, looking an index of factors where the data showed women often lag their peers, such access to leaders and information, and recognition for their work.
- A Consistent Experience within a Diverse Group β analyzing demographic patterns to ensure that companies were creating great workplaces for all women, regardless of who they are or what they do for the organization.
- Representation β taking into account how well women were represented in each organization β in the workforce as a whole, as well as in management and executive positions.
The top employer on the list is Texas Health Resources in Arlington, Texas.
Other area employers to make the list include Goodway Group in Jenkintown and Comcast NBC Universal in Philadelphia.
