Newtown Township Schedules Budget Workshops For Sept 28 & 30
Community members are invited to attend and learn how their tax dollars are spent

Newtown Township, Delaware County announced that it will hold the same budget workshops on two different dates and times. The first will be on September 28th at 6:30 p.m. and the second on September 30th at 3:00 p.m. The workshops are free to attend, will last for approximately one hour and will take place at the Township Building located at 209 Bishop Hollow Road in Newtown Square, Pa. There will also be time for questions afterwards.
Workshop speakers are Richard Lafiata, Township Finance Director and Stephen Nease, Township Manager. The workshops will offer residents a clear understanding of the tax reassessment, budget document, budget process, strategic plan, Township operations and expenses. Topics to be discussed include:
- 2021 County Reassessment – Why did the reassessment raise my taxes? How did it effect the Township budget and income from real estate property taxes?
- New Construction Revenue – Where are the tax dollars from new construction being spent?
- Budget Document – Learn to read the budget document like a pro.
- Strategic Plan – How does the Strategic Plan align with the budget?
- 2022 Proposed Budget – Learn the budgeting process and get updates about the 2022 proposed budget.
- 2023 and Beyond – What steps is the Township taking now to ensure financial stability in the future?
“Budget Workshops are a great way for the community to learn about how their tax dollars are being spent,” said Stephen Nease, Township Manager. “Equally important, the Board of Supervisors and staff have the opportunity to learn what the priorities are of the community.”
