MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Overall crime saw an increase in Marple Township in 2021, according to Marple Police's annual report.
Police issued their annual report for 2021 Thursday.

The data shows overall crime went up from 2020 to 2021, albeit slightly.

In 2021, police reported 435 crimes overall.
That's not much higher than 2020, which saw 427.
Even with the slight increase, 2021's and 2020's overall crime figures are down significantly from 2019, which saw 618 crimes.
Of the 435 crimes reported in 2021, 279 were cleared.

Police made 341 arrests in 2021, according to the report.
Additionally, police handled 24 juvenile offenders in 2021.
Of these offenders, seven juvenile petitions were forward to the Juvenile Court System.
These crimes included three individuals charged with robbery. Two individuals were referred to the juvenile Court for drug violations.
The other juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Court system for terroristic threats and vandalism. One juvenile was issued a non-traffic citation and the matter was handled at the magisterial justice level.
Seventeen juveniles were referred to the Marple Township Youth Aid Panel.
In 2021, police got 14,125 calls for service.
