Pair Charged After Passing Counterfeit Bills In Marple: Police

Police said the pair from Philadelphia passed numerous $20 counterfeit bills at the Giant, Dollar Tree, Acme, and Walmart in Marple.​

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — A man and woman from Philadelphia have been charged with forgery, theft, and related crimes after police in Marple Township said they used counterfeit money at a grocery store.

Brinayah Clark, 21, and Kendall Rawls, 22, both of Philadelphia, have been charged with felony forgery, theft by deception, retail theft, criminal conspiracy to commit forgery, and related crimes, according to police and court documents.

The two were charged after police were called to the Giant at 2180 West Chester Pike at about 8:18 p.m. Thursday for a theft.

A manager said two people used 12 counterfeit $20 bills shortly before police arrived.

While police were at the Giant, Springfield Police were investigating a similar incident at the Giant in Springfield Township.

Police in Springfield detained the two, later identified as Rawls and Clark.

Springfield Police said they found more counterfeit money when they took Rawls and Clark into custody.

Marple Police said Rawls and Clark are also accused of passing more $20 counterfeit bills at the Dollar Tree, Acme, and Walmart in Marple.

Rawls and Clark were released after posting 10 percent of $25,000 bail each.

Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for Feb. 25, court records show.
