PA's Safest Towns: Newtown Township Ranked

SafeWise released a list of the 100 safest towns in the state. Where did Newtown land on the list? Find out here.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA – SafeWise, a home security and safety website, used the most recent FBI crime report statistics and population data to rank towns in Pennsylvania by safety. Newtown Township was among the 100 towns on the list, but where did they land int he ranks?

Newtown Township was ranked the the 64th safest town in the Keystone State in the list.

The website only looked at towns with more then 5,000 residents.

The safest town in Pennsylvania, according to the SafeWise analysis, is Paint Township in Somerset County. Redstone Township in Fayette County was listed in second place and Luzerne Township in Fayette County was third.

According to SafeWise, Pennsylvania's crime rate is approximately 25 percent lower than the national average. Property crime is on the downturn in Pennsylvania, with the rates of burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft all dropping from 2014 to 2015, the analysis says.
